Storm Drain And Manhole Covers Being Stolen

Oneida, NY (WIBX) - Oneida City Police say people are going to dangerous extremes in an effort to illegally make a buck.

The latest victims...storm drain and manhole covers. Several cities are experiencing thefts of these items which are then sold illegally for scrap metal.

The cost to replace a storm drain cover is about $250. But the bigger cost is from injuries. Missing covers can be dangerous to unsuspecting drivers, bicyclists, children, and pedestrians.
