ALS of Utica Raises $132K to Battle Lou Gehrig’s Disease

Utica, NY (WIBX) - The fight against Lou Gehrig's disease continued over the weekend, nearly 1,200 runners and walkers turned out to show there support in fighting the deadly disease. The ALS of Utica held a run and walk Saturday on the SUNYIT campus, raising $132,000. All the money raised will stay local and will help families battling Lou Gehrig's disease.

According to ALS of Utica, the 2012 Top Teams are:

• Team Uncle Mike - $6,291
• Team DePerno - $3,295
• Team David Knapp - $3,161
• Team Belton - $2,718
• Team Helen (Pardi): $2,338

The 2012 Top Individuals are:

• Renee Trojner - $6,890
• Jean Cook - $4,780
• Shawn Christopher: $3,200
• Linda Knapp - $3,086
• Michael Galimo - $2,260

The Winner of the $13,000 Luckiest Fan Raffle is Denise Barr of Whitesboro, NY.  She won a 28 Person Suite at Yankee Stadium to see the Yankees play the Red Sox.  Prize includes food/bev, transportation and $2000 cash.
