Utica, NY (WIBX) - As he stood at the front of a nearly packed Oneida County Courtroom earlier today, Anthony Brindisi recited the oath of office, becoming the 116th Assembly District’s new representative.

Brindisi, basing much of his campaign on job creation, says that he will work to try and rebuild the local economy.

“Certainly, when I ran for office, I discussed jobs and the need to keep good jobs in this area and bring good jobs to this area,” Brindisi said. “And I think it all starts with taxes. If I can do something to help relieve the tax burden on businesses and New Yorkers, I think we can start growing businesses in this area.”

Brindisi is filling the post formerly held by long-time Assemblywoman, RoAnn Destito.

Destito resigned from the 116th Assembly District earlier this year to become Commissioner of New York's Office of General Services.
