The New Jersey Devils skated to a 4-1 home victory over the Rangers on Tuesday night at the Purdential Center.

Ilya Kovalchuk got the Devils on the board early, beating Henrik Lundqvist just :49 seconds into the game.

Derek Stephan knotted the game in the second period but New Jersey scored three times in the third on goals from David Clarkson, Ryan Carter and Patrick Elias.

The first-place blue shirts (91 points) drop to 42-16-7 on the year. The Devils (79 points) improved to 37-24-5.

Ryan Callahan returned to the lineup for the Rangers after missing the last three games with a bruised foot.
