The Oneida County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate a fatal car-bicycle accident that happened over the weekend in the Town of Lee.

Deputies say a woman was driving on Stokes-Westernville road on Saturday night when she hit a man riding a bicycle.

The man was ejected from the bike and sustained serious injuries.

He was flown to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse where he died.

Authorities are not releasing the name of the victim until family can be notified.

UPDATED 11:27 A.M. - The Oneida County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the victim of Saturday night's fatal car-bicycle accident in the Town of Lee.

Deputies say 17-year old Joseph Pocchiari of Ava was riding his bike on Stokes-Westernville Road when he was hit.

He was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse where he died.

Authorities say there are no street lights in the area of the accident, there was no lighting on the bicycle and Pocchiari was not wearing safety equipment.

The investigation is ongoing and no tickets have been issued.
