A motorcyclist is dead following a crash that took place in Schroeppel, New York.

58-Year old Douglas West of Baldswinsville allegedly tried to pass a pickup truck driven by Rory Ingoldby that was turning into the parking lot of Superior Autoplex on County Route 57 when he drove into the truck.

He lost control of the motorcycle as he hit the front driver's side of the truck.  State Police say both West and his motorcycle slid into a parking lot.  He was brought to Upstate University Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

44-Year old Ingoldby, from Phoenix, New York, was ticketed for failing to properly secure a four year-old child, who was a passenger in the truck.  Neither Ingoldby nor the child was injured.

Police are saying that the crash was caused by West's unsafe passing and speed.
