Utica, NY (WIBX) - The former owner and operator of the Auto One Group in Westmoreland has been sentenced to three years probation, 100 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine.

According to the Oneida County District Attorney's Office, Matthew Crever pleaded guilty to one count of scheme to defraud and two counts of petty larceny.

An investigation found Crever overcharged car buyers for registrations and document fees over a four-year period.

Crever was also ordered to pay restitution to numerous victims totaling over $26,000.

If he fails to do so, he faces up to two years in jail.
