Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Democratic and Working Families Party candidate for Utica mayor has received the endorsement of Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The news came Monday in an emailed news release from Robert Palmieri's campaign.

"I am proud to support an accomplished public servant like Rob Palmieri," said Governor Cuomo. "Rob has the background Utica needs. His combination of private sector experience and record of serving the people distinguishes him from the rest of the field."

"The Governor knows Utica well. I am confident he'll do everything he can to help rebuild our city. I look forward to working him," Palmieri said.

Palmieri is one of five candidates looking to become Utica's next mayor, along with Michael Cerminaro (R), Bob Cardillo (C, I), Ernie Sanita (Rainbow) and Robert Clemente (G).
