The gray fox shot and killed on Monday after attacking a man in his backyard has tested positive for rabies.

Bobbi Jo Kahl with the Oneida County Health Department says although the man was not bitten, saliva could have still entered him through abrasions.

Kahl continues to urge residents to take care while outside and to remain vigilant of stray and wild animals.

A rabies clinic has been scheduled for the evening of May 15th at the Clark Mills Firehouse.
