Griffo Bill Would Increase Clothing Donations To Charity
Jim Rondenelli, WIBX[/caption]Governor Cuomo has signed a bill which will allow counterfeit clothing items confiscated by police to be distributed to people in need instead of destroyed.
The legislation was sponsored by Senator Joseph Griffo.
It will give a judge the option to order that imitation clothes be donated to a non-profit organization with an established history of service to the needy.
Griffo says the clothing will not be resold and any counterfeit tags or marks would be removed.
He says the bill will help increase clothing donations to organizations like the Rome Rescue Mission and the Central New York Veterans Outreach Center.
