Herkimer County HealthNet Offering Health Initiative Grants

Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - Children will soon be able to hop, skip, and jump their way to better health, thanks to grants offered by Herkimer County HealthNet.

As part of the group's "Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play" program, Herkimer county municipalities and not-for-profit organizations can apply for infrastructure grants to increase physical activity.

Funded by the state's Health Department, individual grants worth up to $10,000 may be used for trail building and improvements, and more than $11,000 for improving playgrounds. Each applicant is expected to be able to match the grant's contribution in some way, whether through funds, donated materials or volunteer time.
