This year could turn out to be a huge breakthrough year for Greg Rousseau of the Buffalo Bills.  He's already getting national attention on week 1.

It was a risky pick for the Buffalo Bills.  When they picked him in the first round of the 2021 draft the first thing people mentioned were the question marks.  He opted out of playing his senior year at Miami to avoid getting Covid-19 and many wondered if it would affect him in the pros.

Luckily it has not.  His sheer size is automatically a huge advantage.  He's very tall and has super long arms.  It's one of the reasons why they call him Groot (after the character in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise).

While his development has taken longer than many Bills fans would like, it appears as though he is on the right path now.  He had a dominant pre-season and that has carried over already into the regular season.  He was just named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week by the NFL.

It's an honor that he's only achieved one other time in his career.

He had a monster week against the Cardinals at Highmark Stadium.  His stats included:

  • 3 Sacks (Leads the AFC)
  • Forced Fumble
  • 6 Tackles
  • 3 Tackles For Loss (TFL)
  • 2 QB Hits

If he continues to have a season like he's had starting in the preseason, he is going to be a force to be reckoned with and will turn out to be a huge star in the league.

The Bills will need him in top form this week as they take on a Miami Dolphins team that is threatening to steal the division title from them this year.  Watch Rousseau and the rest of the Bills on Thursday night at 8:15 pm on Amazon Prime.

I wanted to comb past the amazing defenses the Bills have had over the past 30 years and put the spotlight on some stellar role players who help lead the team to the playoffs and beyond. We are talking about players that maybe didn't get lots of love from the National media or made tons of Pro bowls, but we were still proud that they were part of the team.
