Matt Milano Finally Returns From Injury For The Buffalo Bills
The Bills were not the same team on defense after losing linebacker Matt Milano last year to a leg injury. Today, he was cleared to practice.
Bills fans have been waiting to see this since the Bills took the trip to play the Jacksonville Jaguars in London last year. On that trip, the Bills lost both defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and linebacker Matt Milano to injuries. Jones suffered a torn pectoral muscle. Milano had a broken leg. DaQuan Jones was miraculously able to return near the end of the year, but Milano was still out.
That changed today.
Milano has been working hard to rehab the leg that he broke in London and today he was approved to practice on a limited basis.
When a player like Milano isn't on the field, it's not just the plays that they would normally make that a team is missing out on, but also the leadership that he can provide. Terrell Bernard was a big surprise to a lot of people after Milano was injured, but even he admits that the Bills are better with Milano on the field.
Today was just the first day of mandatory mini-camp for the Bills. Unfortunately it wasn't all good news. It appears as though wide receiver Khalil Shakir suffered a lower body injury during today's practice. They will return to the field tomorrow and again on Thursday for the remaining dates of mini-camp. Then they will return to St. John Fisher College in Rochester for training camp on July 23rd with the first practice starting on July 24th.
