Free Orchestra Concert, Food Trucks and Drone Show in Rome This Weekend

Looking for something fun (and free) to do this weekend?

Rome is about to host an event that's a little different than your typical summer concert. Imagine live orchestra music along the Erie Canal, local food trucks, art activities, outdoor fun, and a drone light show to end the night.

It's happening Saturday, July 11, during the Water Music NY: More Voices Festival at Bellamy Harbor Park.

A Full Day of Free Family Fun

The free festival runs from noon until 10 p.m. and is part of both the Erie Canal Bicentennial celebration and Rome's Honor America Days festivities.

Throughout the day, you'll find something for just about everyone, including:

A Concert Inspired by Rome's History

The evening's main event begins at 8 p.m. when the Albany Symphony performs a special concert created just for Rome.

Composer Jack Frerer wrote a new piece inspired by the city's unique history, including the Erie Canal, Fort Stanwix and Rome's important role as the place where construction of the Erie Canal first began.

Local student performers will also take part in the performance, making it a true community celebration.

Accessible parking, ADA restrooms, ASL interpretation, a sensory-friendly quiet area and accessible seating will all be available. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets, since seating is limited.
