Knicks Rout Celtics, Win Third Straight
Five Knicks scored at least a dozen points in a blowout 114-88 romp of the Celtics at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.
Led by 24 points from Carmelo Anthony, New York (18-27) picked up its third straight win and returned the favor for an embarrassing loss at MSG in December - a game that saw the Knicks trail by as many as 41 points, with a final score of 114-73.
J.R. Smith and Jeremy Tyler each had 17, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 16 while Tyson Chandler scored a dozen and grabbed 13 boards to help New York slide to within a half-game of the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.
Boston (15-32) had poor shooting nights from Jeff Green and Rajon Rondo, a combined seven for 16, in a third consecutive defeat.
Green did lead the Celts' offense with 14 points, followed by twelve each from Chris Johnson and Kris Humphries.
The Knicks host Cleveland on Thursday night.
