Man In Critical Condition Following Newport Crash

Newport, NY (WIBX) - A Stratford man is in critical condition following a two-vehicle accident on Newport Road in Newport.

State Police say 48-year old George Parry lost control of his pickup truck due to unsafe speed on an ice covered roadway at about 6:30 Thursday morning and collided head-on with a pickup driven by Andrew Knutson of Brookings, South Dakota.

Parry was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center and then airlifted to University Hospital in Syracuse.

Knutson and a passenger in his vehicle were taken to St. E's.

Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles using the Jaws of Life.

Parry was ticketed for unsafe speed and faiure to keep right.
