Marcy Man Dies in First Death at Gore Mountain Since 2006

It is the first death at Gore Mountain since 2006.

Marcy resident Nicholas Hansen veered off the Chatiemac Trail and crashed into a tree at about 10:45 Thursday morning.  He was skiing with others who saw him hit the tree.

First aid was administered by Ski Patrol, and he was airlifted to the hospital.  Hansen was pronounced dead a short time later.

No other details have been released about Hansen death, pending the results of an autopsy.

The last time a skier died at Gore was in 2006, when 56-year old man died after it is believed that he hit a tree.
