North Utica's Seymour Park is getting a new multi-purpose grass field.

Mayor Robert Palmieri says the field will be suitable for football, soccer and lacrosse.

Palmieri says the project is an extension of the City of Utica Parks Master Plan which was unveiled and adopted by the Common Council earlier this year.

“Our park system is one of the biggest selling points of our City and one of the largest components of the quality of life for our residents. When we invest in our parks, we’re investing in families, in neighborhoods and in children. We’ve been aggressive in upgrading our parks because we want to continue to make Utica more beautiful and more fun than any little city in America” said Palmieri.

The first phase of the project is underway.  The new field is expected to be completed in  the spring of next year.

The cost of the project is $10,000, which is included in the City budget.
