A large pro-gun rally in planned in Syracuse this weekend, following several similar events held in the state capitol since the passage of the NY SAFE Act.

Melody Burns, conservative talk show host on 1300 am in the Capital District, joined WIBX First News with Keeler in the Morning to discuss the upcoming rally.

One of the featured speakers at next Saturday's event is Sheriff Richard Mack, the former sheriff of Graham County, Arizona.

Oath Keepers will lead the rally, along with Sheriff Mack, with several other particpating groups, like Women in the Support of the Second Amendment, Turn Albany Upside Down, and more, she said.

The NY Safe Act would not have prevented what happened in Herkimer, Burns said, referring to the state's new law as the 'un-safe' act.

''It not the gun that kills, it's the person behind the gun that kills.''

The Syracuse rally is happening Saturday (3/23/13) from 11-2 at the Inner Harbor on West Kilpatrick's Street.
