Rome, NY (WIBX) - A Rome couple is facing charges following an early morning traffic stop in the outer distrct of Rome.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says a deputy was patrolling in the area of  Lower Lawrence Street known for drug activity when he saw a car leave the area under suspicious circumstances.

Deputies say after being pulled over the driver of the car, 40-year old Jill Archer, became unresponsive behind the wheel from an apparent drug overdose and was taken to Rome Hospital.

Archer was charged with DWAI/Drugs and DWI/Drugs for having a combination of one or more drugs in her body.

She was also charged with several traffic violations.

Her husband, 38-year old David Archer was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after deputies say he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
