Oriskany, NY (WIBX) - Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol added 5 new Corrections Officers to his law enforcement team and promoted 2 long time members of the department. The following individuals were sworn into office by Sheriff Maciol during a ceremony at the Oneida County Public Safety Complex in Oriskany earlier today:

Lieutenant Robert Meyers was promoted to Captain of Correction Operations. Sergeant James McCarthy was promoted to Lieutenant of Patrol Operations. Lt McCarthy will also serve as the department's Public Information Officer.

Another development discussed at the event was the assignment of an investigator to the Oneida County Drug Task Force -- a promise kept by Maciol who spoke about the Sheriff's Office re-joining the Drug Task Force team during his campaign for office last year.

The following individuals are the new Corrections Officers who officially joined the department:

  • John Bulischeck
  • Michael Clark
  • Brandon Deveans
  • Joseph Kline
  • John Nolan

Maciol says the department is looking to hire 16 additional staff members in the next several months.
