The Word of Life building on Oneida Street in Chadwicks is up for sale. The building is the sight of the tragic beating death of 19-year-old Lucas Leonard. The death was the result of a church counseling session in which Lucas' brother, Christopher Leonard, was also beaten. Christopher survived.
Christopher Leonard is out of the hospital and testified at a preliminary hearing on Wednesday against his half-sister Sarah Ferguson in connection with an alleged beating inside the Word of Life Church in Chadwicks that resulted in his hospitalization, along with the death of his older brother, Lucas.
We're learning more about what police have called the suspicious death of 19-year-old Lucas Leonard of Clayville on Monday. And, now New Hartford Police say there is a second victim, a 17-year-old male who is in serious condition, police said.
It remains unclear exactly what heavily armed police units were investigating in Chadwicks on Monday, but many residents around the 3300 block of Oneida Street were stuck inside their homes, while others were left standing on a street corner until they were eventually allowed to return home just before midnight.
