Utica's zoning board has voted to allow the owners of the old Davis Motel on Herkimer Road in North Utica to rehabilitate the property, bringing in several new apartments and motel rooms.

Utica Councilman At-Large Jim Zecca is accusing Oneida County and its County Executive of being less than honest. In fact, he says Anthony Picente has lied regarding some of the circumstances about the housing of sex offenders.

The Zoning Board of Appeals has denied a use variance request from the owner of the Davis Motel.

With a picket planned this weekend outside of North Utica hotels to protest the housing of sex offenders, the owner of currently closed motel property is speaking out to separate himself from the controversy.
