One of the most notable buildings in the Village of Ilion was devastated following extreme weather that hit the region last week.

Removed from the Republican ballot due to a petition error back in April, Ilion's Mayor Brian Lamica and Trustee Chuck Lester have now been kicked off their own 3rd Party ballot, the Ilion First Party. Short of a spectacular write-in victory in June, the Lamica-Lester administration in Herkimer County's largest village may be about to come to an end.

The battle over the mayor's office and members of the community and fire department is heating up in the Village of Ilion.

Things are heating up at the Ilion Fire Department and this issue has nothing to do with a blaze. Since the end of last year, there have been heated relations between the fire department leadership, versus Ilion Mayor Brian Lamica, and Deputy Mayor Chuck Lester, according to residents close to the conflict.

According to Ilion Fire Chief Robert Paddock, a small machine fire broke out just before 9 a.m. at Remington Arms Friday.

WIBX has learned all ten occupants at 190 East Main Street were able to safely make it from the burning structure. Some of the residents were awoken and alerted to the fire by passing motorists shortly at 7:00 a.m. Monday

Just one week after responding to two multi-unit fires in Ilion, the American Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley is launching a home fire campaign in the village.

Ilion Police are now releasing more information about Sunday's fatal traffic accident.

Ilion Police say a man taken into custody earlier this morning is being treated for minor injuries and receiving a mental health evaluation.
