The shooting of a Utica School security officer following a Utica Proctor High School Football game on Saturday has sent shockwaves throughout the region. Now, the three candidates running to be Utica's next mayor are speaking out about how the incident was handled, and how they would have acted had they been mayor.
State Senator Joe Griffo had a busy night with the Utica Police Department last week as part of a ride-along with law enforcement. Griffo recently completed ride-alongs with the New York State Police in Herkimer County, the state police Community Stabilization Unit in Oneida County, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Utica Police Department. Griffo says, he'll "use what he experienced to continue his strong advocacy for policies and legislation that will help law enforcement and enhance public safety in New York."
