Downtown Utica is under construction like never before, with a new traffic pattern and the addition of new sidewalks and streets, the Nexus Center, and of course, the downtown Utica hospital project.

After over a year of the local hospitals being locked down to any sort of visitation, the Mohawk Valley Health System has announced dramatic changes to their visitation policies.
The downtown Utica hospital just got a new name, along with a $50 million contribution from casino mogul and Utica native, Steve Wynn. Going forward, Utica's new hospital which is expected to open in 2023, will be named The Wynn Hospital of the Mohawk Valley Health System.
There's better news brewing at Mohawk Valley Health Systems these days, according to MVHS Chief Physician Executive. Elective surgeries are being reinstated at MVHS.
A portion of Lafayette Street between State and Cornelia Streets will be closed to traffic on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to allow for concrete work to be done for Mohawk Valley Health System’s downtown Utica hospital.
A flagger will be available to direct traffic and detour signs will also be placed to reroute vehicles...
