President Donald Trump has ignited a firestorm of criticism and charges that he is politicizing the military by faulting a war hero for not capturing al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden sooner.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Some special operations service members and veterans are unhappy that one of their own has taken credit publicly for killing Osama bin Laden. Others say they have gotten used to the idea that their brethren might break the code of silence and seek to profit from their exploits.
The Combating Terrorism Center at West Point will release some of the 6,000 documents that were seized in last year’s raid of Osama bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, resulting in his death one year ago Wednesday. This is the first time the general public will have access to the al Qaeda leader’s papers.

He felt al-Qaeda was killing too many Muslims, causing it to suffer a “marketing problem.” The West was winning the public relations war.
So what was called for, he thought, was a new name.
