The Village of Whitesboro has updated its seal, which still depicts village founder Hugh White in a friendly wrestling match with an Oneida Indian.

After a heavy wave of negative publicity the Village of Whitesboro has made a decision to consult with the Oneida Indian Nation and members of the family of village founder Hugh White to redesign the controversial village seal.

The Village of Whitesboro's seal has been the subject of debate for decades but that debate has recently caused the national spotlight to be put on the village.

The Village of Whitesboro continues to make national headlines this week following Monday's informal vote by residents to keep the seal of the village the same.

The seal for the Village of Whitesboro will remain.  Some have criticized the seal, which depicts Village founder Hugh White wrestling a member of the Oneida Indian Nation.
