Enhanced security measures are being put in place at Utica City Schools and in particular Proctor High School following the tragic shooting at a football game.

Update: At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Utica Police said on Facebook that normal educational activities had resumed at Proctor High School. Officers and school staff cleared each room in the building to ensure safety. Utica school board member and 2023 mayoral candidate Bob Cardillo has revealed that the weapons detection system installed at Proctor High School was not calibrated to detect knives when a student stabbed a fellow classmate during a fight on October 31st.

A scary situation at Proctor High School in Utica as fight escalated into a stabbing and has left one student with multiple injuries. That student suffered several cuts to his back and hands, police say, but the injuries are not considered life threatening.
