The Utica area is buzzing about the F.X. Matt Brewery's new Utica Club sign. On Monday the sign began its trip to the brewery from Serianni Signs, and today begins the assembly of the sign. We talked with Owner Paul Serianni about the process of making the sign and some of its new features.

The F.X. Matt Brewery's latest creation is a hip summertime concoction from their hard soda line called Jed's Mule Kicker, a take on the popular Moscow Mule cocktail made famous in the 1960's.  The Moscow Mule cocktail contains vodka, ginger beer and lime; Jed's version is is a malt beverage that features Saranac Ginger Beer.

The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday to celebrate the Grand Opening of the FX Matt Brewing Company's Saranac 1888 Tavern and Tasting Room.

One of the most eclectic bands you'll come across is back at it again. The Swamp Drivers, are showing off their latest musical creation, a guitar made from a Saranac Brewery oar. They've dubbed it their Fend-Oar guitar.

For those of you Saranac fanatics who have always wondered when the 1888 Tavern will be open to the public for some after-work drinks there is finally an answer and it is "Now!" The tap house above the brewery shop at 830 Varick Street is now open on select days as a fully functioning bar.

The F.X. Matt Brewery in Utica is a huge staple in our community for many reasons. They are host to The Boilermaker after-party, Saranac Thursdays to benefit The United Way, and they make incredible beer! Recently, they were honored for the environmental efforts as well.
