Two Injured In Car Accident On Route 8

A two-car accident on Route 8 sent two people to the hospital with injuries.

Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol said Petr Tkach, 20, of Whitesboro, was driving south on Route 8 shortly after 11:30 Monday morning, when he crossed into the northbound lane.

Tkach then struck a vehicle traveling northbound driven by Jason Tanner, 33, of Rome.

Both were taken to the St. Elizabeth's Hospital with serious injuries. Tkach was issued a vehicle and traffic summons for moving left of pavement marking.
