New York State Police have confirmed one person is dead following a two car accident on Route 365 in the Town of Trenton.
Authorities say a vehicle driven by Nancy Herrick, 78, of Remsen hit ice and slush and crossed into oncoming traffic.

Herrick's car then hit another car driven by Donald Eaton, 60, of the Town of Ohio head-on.

Eaton was treated at the scene for minor injuries but declined medical transport.

Herrick was transported to Upstate Medical center with multiple injuries.

Her passenger, Joan Hamlin, 75, of Remsen was pronounced dead at the scene. Joan Hamlin is the Grandmother of Olympic athlete Erin Hamlin.

Authorities say the jaws of life were needed to free both Herrick and Hamlin from the vehicle.

Route 365 was closed for about 5 hours today as crews worked to re-create the accident. State Police say the accident remains under investigation.
