Emergency dispatchers throughout the region are saying they have been very busy with vehicle/deer collisions for the past several days.

Deer are more active at this time of year and most encounters are reported around dusk and dawn.

Motorists are advised to scan the sides of the road for the presence of deer and to slow down and brake without swerving to avoid collisions. Authorities say swerving can send a vehicle into a tree with a much worse outcome than actually hitting a deer.
