Utica, NY (WIBX) -  A member of the Utica School Board has formally announced his candidacy for the state Assembly.

Anthony Brindisi is looking to replace Roann Destito in the 116th Assembly District.

The 32-year-old Brindisi says Albany is in desperate need of reform, from education to energy to attracting new businesses.

In addition to serving on the Utica School Board, Brindisi is a partner in the law firm Brindisi, Murad, Brindisi, Pearlman, Julian and Pertz.

Destito is awaiting confirmation as Commissioner of General Serivces after being nominated for the post by Governor Cuomo.
