Clinton, NY (WIBX) - A Clinton man who shot and killed his family's dog has pleaded guilty to felony Aggravated Cruelty to an Animal, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. William Richerson, of Fountain Street, will face sentencing in July 17, 2011, by Judge Barry M. Donalty. On the 5th of April this year, Richerson fired two shots into the head of the Jack Russell Terrier named Sam in the family's basement.

Police say they found several firearms in the home that Richerson did not have a license to possess, and is facing a possible state prison sentence for the felony firearms charge. The felony aggravated cruelty to an animal charge can be punished by local jail time.
