Don't look now but the Yankees appear to have plenty of relevant baseball ahead in the final month-plus of the regular season.

Gone is the idea that the only reason to watch the 2016 season play out was to get a glimpse of the 'Baby Bombers' as they collected some big-league-experience and at-bats. They pulled to within 2.5 games of Baltimore in the chase for the second AL Wild Card after New York again drubbed the Orioles on Saturday, 13-5.

And, you can thank the remarkable, and historic, performance of rookie catcher Gary Sanchez for bringing life to a team that was thought to be 'packing it in' after sell-off at the trade deadline. The 23-year-old went deep again Saturday, becoming the fastest player in MLB to reach eleven home runs (23 games). He's batting .400 and has driven in 21 runs this month. And, to be more specific, he's hits those eleven dingers, and tallied 18 RBIs, in the last 15 games.

New York (67-61) has now won four straight and six of eight to tighten the gap in their attempt to get into the playoffs. They could make it tighter still as they look to complete a sweep of Baltimore on Sunday afternoon with C.C. Sabathia opposing the O's Kevin Gausman.
