Recording setting crowds turned out Saturday's Frozen Dome Classic at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

The Utica College Pioneers and Oswego Lakers played to a 4-4 tie in front of a new Division III record 7,047 fans in a matinee contest.

Then, the AHL's Utica Comets and Syracuse Crunch met in a nightcap to set a new record for attendance at an indoor American hockey game as 30,715 fans stuffed the Dome for the historic event.

Utica grabbed the game's first goal, but the Crunch went on to a 2-1 victory.

It marks the first time this season the Comets have lost back to back games.

The Comets (12-4-2-0) still lead the Western Conference North Division with 26 point, three up on Adirondack.
