It was the first chance for Knicks fans who subscribe to Time Warner Cable to watch Jeremy Lin and the surging Knickerbockers since January 1st. But, the New Orleans Hornets found a way to stop New York's seven game win streak, holding on for a 89-85 victory.

Former Knick Trevor Ariza had the hot-hand with 25 points and eight boards for the Hornets, who won for just the seventh time this season. Marco Belinelli had 17.

Jeremy Lin had another good offensive performance with 26 points, but again had too many turnovers (9), including eight in the first half.

Amar'e Stoudemire also had 26 points to go along with a dozen boards.

As a team, the Knicks shot just 4-fo-24 from 3-point range while New Orleans hit 7-of-12 from downtown.

New York (15-16) hosts the Mavericks at 1:00 on Sunday afternoon.

Knicks Get J.R. Smith

Prior to Friday night's game, the Knicks signed free-agent J.R. Smith.

Smith, a 3-point threat, had been playing ball in China during the lockout and was unable to sign with an NBA team until the season in China was complete.
