Three local County Sheriff's have earned the the 'Champion for Children Award' from the National Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Organization.

Madison County Sheriff Allen Riley, Herkimer County Sheriff Christopher Farber and Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol were the only three Sheriffs in New York State to receive the award for their work ensuring New York's children get a positive start in life that will keep them away from a life of crime.

Fight Crime: Invest in kids is a national anti-crime organization that researches what prevents children from becoming criminals and gives that information to policymakers and the general public.

Established in 1999, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids New York is a statewide, bi-partisan, non-profit organization made up of 300-plus police chiefs, sheriffs, district attorneys and violence survivors, and is part of the 5,500 member national Fight Crime: Invest in Kids organization.
