A company that provides critical care air medical services is coming to Rome.
Mercy Flight Central will begin base operations at Griffiss International Airport in June.
Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente says the agreement calls for a temporary base of operation from June 5th through Labor Day. Mercy Flight Central will station one of its aircraft at the airport from 9:00am to 9:00pm seven days a week.
MCF will occupy part of Building 100, located on Hangar Road, near the terminal building at the Griffiss Tech Park. Both the County and Mercy Flight are working toward a permanent facility at Griffiss by the end of 2016.
Mercy Flight currently has bases in Canadaigua and Marcellus. It has transferred over 13,000 patients since its founding in 1992.
