Mets’ Jacob deGrom Headed To All-Star Game
Reigning National League Rookie of the Year Jacob deGrom was named to his first All-Star game on Monday.
The 27-year-old is currently New York's lone representative - each MLB team has at least one member named to the annual summer classic - posting an 8-6 record with a 2.30 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Mets closer Jeurys Familia was named a Final Vote candidate, a chance for fans to vote in the last member of each league's All-Star squad. Other final vote candidates for the National League are: Reds righty Johnny Cueto, Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw, St. Louis' Carlos Martinez and Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.
Familia has recorded 23 saves in 25 chances with a 1.13 ERA in the first half of the year.
