New York state added 47,400 private sector jobs in May, the largest monthly gain since September of 2000.

That's according to numbers released by the New York State Department of Labor.

Since the beginning of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration, the state’s economy has added 673,500 private sector jobs and experienced employment growth in 46 of the past 53 months.

Meanwhile, the statewide unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.7% in May, remaining at its lowest level since August 2008.
