Utica, NY (WIBX) - US Census Bureau numbers show Oneida County's population dropped by 591 over the past decade. New York county-by-county numbers were released today showing the county 2010 population was 234,878.

In Utica, the population actually increased by 1,584 since 2000, growing to 62,235. The head count in Rome has fallen by 1,225 over that time, the breakdown shows, to 33,725.

The largest percentage increase in Oneida County came in Deerfield at 9.4 percent, or 367 people.

The largest percentage drop in the county was in Forestport, at 9.3 percent, or 157 people.

Over the last decade, the Census Bureau's statistics show Herkimer County's population increased by 92 to 65,519.
