Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente has announced an increase of $200 per mile in additional payments for this past winter to municipalities that have snow plow contracts with the county.

Picente says due to the prolonged winter conditions, the County DPW has determined the average cost per mile was higher than the five year average contracted amount.

He says additional money has been made available to help offset the costs.

Picente went on to say “I understand the variables during the winter months which is why for the second year in a row I have proposed this adjustment so everyone is properly compensated. These inter-municipal agreements are a testament to the level of efficiency and cost saving measures we can reach together to the benefit of all the taxpayers of Oneida County and for those each municipality.”

The Board of Legislators will vote on approval of the proposal at its June meeting.
