Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - In support of the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, Herkimer County Healthnet is turning off their televisions for a good cause.

The group will celebrate Screen-Free Week from April 25 through the 29th by turning off televisions, computers and video games. Herkimer Healthnet says that by leaving the TV behind, children can get out of the house and “discover the joys of life beyond screens.”

Officials from the organization say school-age kids spend more than seven hours per day in front of a screen on average.
