FDA Announces First Ever at Home HIV Test

In the never-ending war against the spread of the HIV virus that can lead to AIDS, the Food and Drug Administration announced Tuesday that it has approved the first-ever a self-administered HIV testing kit that produces results without the use of a laboratory.

On Thursday, the Food And Drug Administration will meet to decide whether Truvada, a drug which is used to manage HIV, should also be approved as a way of preventing the spread of the disease.

Utica, NY (WIBX) - December 1st is World AIDS Day--a global movement that calls for heightened efforts to educate the public about the continued threat of becoming infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), the virus that causes AIDS. In Oneida County, AIDS Community Resources is marking World AIDS Day with a service of Remembrance and Hope at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Utica. The service starts at 5PM and all are welcome to attend.
