COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Former intelligence worker Edward Snowden has received a prize from the Norwegian Academy of Literature and Freedom of Expression, accepting via a live video link from Russia.
President Barack Obama signed the USA Freedom Act into law yesterday, replacing the USA Patriot Act. The Freedom Act now requires that telephone companies, and not the NSA, store your data.
Some provisions of the USA Patriot Act expired over the weekend, among them the ability of the National Security Agency to collect bulk phone records of Americans.
