On Sunday more than 80 tornadoes tore through the Midwest, killing at least six people in Illinois, injuring dozens more, leveling homes and businesses, and leaving a swath of destruction from Missouri through Michigan.

2:00 PM - The National Weather Service has cancelled the Tornado Watch for the Mohawk Valley and Central New York.

A series of tornadoes hit Oklahoma Friday night, killing at least 13 people and leaving many more missing, without homes or stranded. Other storms and flooding also hit Arkansas and Missouri, and remnants of that severe weather moved east all the way to New England, where 19,000 are still without power on Monday morning.

Electrical crew members are working around the clock to bring power back to Upstate New York residents, primarily those in the Capital Region. Though straight winds at times hovered around 80 miles per hour near New York Mills, no tornadoes were reported in the Utica area, according to the National Weather Service.

A massive mile-wide tornado has struck the town of Moore, Oklahoma.  Early reports say that an elementary school took a direct hit. The near-F5 tornado had winds clocked at up to 200 miles per hour. As of 10PM Monday, the death toll has risen to 51.

A tornado that ripped through Hood County, Texas is being blamed for the deaths of at least six people.  About two dozen residents are still missing.
