Local Vietnam Veteran Paul Fortin recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa to support the Sitrin Health Care Center's Military Rehabilitation Program.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. In the case of Iraq war vet Justin Anderson, life handed him brain cancer and an amputated leg. But that isn't stopping him. Anderson is going from serving his country to serving his community in Nebraska, plowing sidewalks with his wheelchair.

This veteran keeps on fighting.

The NFL annually does 'Salute to Service' games. The Buffalo Bills had a memorable moment when the team welcomed two brothers, 96- and 101-year-old Irving and Sydney Cole.

Tony Longretta is a former Utica resident who loves taking photos. He's actually really good at it. On a recent trip home, he took some amazing shots of some of the most beautiful landmarks in our fine city. He and a friend, Daniel Mellito, decided to sell the collection of photos in a calendar and give the proceeds to The CNY Veteran's Outreach Center.

In the words of John F Kennedy, "We express our gratitude to our Veteran's. We must never forget the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."

There is not much time left to sponsor your flag to honor a veteran. The Good News Center is selling flag sponsorships for flags to put up along the parkway. The money raised will be given to our heroes and their families. The flags that have already been sponsored are currently on display along the parkway in Utica and they look amazing.
