Tractor Trailer Severs Utility Pole In New Hartford

Traffic on Wilbur Road in New Hartford was detoured around the scene of a tractor-trailer accident this morning.

New Hartford Police say the 53-foot long trailer struck a utility pole at the corner of Wilbur Road and Andover Avenue -- snapping it in half.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, 62-year old Harold Kautz of Constoga, Pennsylvania, was not injured.

He was issued a summons for driving a truck on a residential roadway with a posted 6-ton weight limit.

National Grid crews responded to the scene and will have to replace the utility pole.
